Photojournalism students painted with lights during a 30 second exposure and a strobe light. "there is a lot of creative opportunity when you leave the shutter open", said Ms. Zavala. Any light that you put in front of the camera during exposure will record on the image. All of this is captured in the dark so students must have a vision for their image and be able to communicate it to all members of the photography team.

Relationships come in different forms and fashion.
Sister, Octavia Williams and Petra Tull share a close relationship. They recently rebuilt their bond when they reunited in Taylor in December. "I feel love, companionship and compassion from my sister who is 4 years younger than me, said Tull. "Recently she shared that she looks up to me.”

HOSA students spent the entire Wednesday signing in students, teachers and community members who came to Taylor High School to donate blood at our annual Scoot & White Blood Drive. HOSA students at the registration table are Alexis Villarreal, Robin Ontiveros, Celicia Jackson-Deary, Andrea Orta, Julie Gains, Teanna Lucio, Anais Pineda, Camille Randle, Janice Garcia. “A total of 41 people donated blood which is enough blood for 82 patients”, said HOSA Teacher Sarah Martin.

Emily sumpter, Robert Perez, and Jose vega and the second period culinary class in Top Flight Cafe Restaurant service role play and practice serving sparkling cider, diguised as wine.
“This is a great example of students who are fully engaged in a class activity.” said Mrs. Martin “The students were learning the proper way to serve wines using sparkling cider. This is a skill that is needed in high end establishments. Required for the dual credit dining room management class”.

A brown fuzzy smiling bear could be yours if you visit the library annual Scholastic Book Fair. The bear is part of an incentive raffle that all students, teachers and staff can enter to win. Stop in and see all of the colorful books, posters, stationaries and writing utensils. "Stop in and buy your sweetheart a good book for Valentine's Day", said Mrs. Hicks. "When you buy a book you can also enter a raffle".

Mrs. Vicki Rowe and her Academic Decathlon team finished first place at the Regional meet in Corpus this weekend.
"Although the study of India has been an incredible challenge, our team has pursued the mastery of the curriculum with much enthusiasm,said Rowe. "Our three returning members from last year's State Championship team, Sarah, Simon and Dayton, have been instrumental in leading the team by modeling the amount of dedication and study that is required to be AcDec scholars. We are looking forward to State with high hopes and the determination to win another championship", said Rowe
They advance to the state meet which is held during the last week in February.

For his 2016 Vision Board Jonathan Vasquez created a surreal, Photoshopped scene that features him at home base wearing his camouflage gear while his baby daughter sits in her Boston Red Sox papoose. Jonathan's vision is to go hunting and fly fishing and take his daughter to see the the Aurora Borealis Lights this year.

In his simulated experience, Sumpter got "busted" driving. The RED Program brought drunken simulator to our school as part of Red Ribbon week.
As a parent I love the idea, said Susan Sumpter. "I think that drunk driving is too common in today's world and hopefully understanding it a bit will help to keep it from happening with our children."

Last week Erik Capilla and Eli Ortiz practiced running around the campus in preparation for the Regional Meet in Corpus Christi on Monday. Erik placed 53rd Placed in 18:46 minutes. Eli placed 72nd Place in 19:08 minutes. "Neither of the boys qualified for the state meet, but each had a very successful year, said Cross Country Coach Shelli Cobb. "I am proud of how hard they worked and of their accomplishments. We will miss Erik next season as he graduates and pursues his higher education. Eli is a freshman, so we will see even greater things out of him for the next three years."

Photojournalism students Ashley Snell and Zoe Suarez and friend take a cool cardboard V-Wagon on a joy ride exploring the endless possibilities that are found in Photoshop. In this image, Ashley removed the background on the image of her "sitting" in the van and added Zoe and the dog into the image. In this assignments students can create any world they wish simply by adding creativity, imagination and Photoshop tools.

Wednesday is “Pink-Out” Day.
Thursday is Superheroes Day Friday is Spirit Day when freshman wear green, sophomores wear white, juniors wear black and seniors wear camouflage.

In a tightly filled student center Spanish class members Roel Banda and Maria Hernandez flag down students to join the Spanish club. There were at least 20 clubs represented at the club fair. "I believe our school fair was successful", Ms. Anderson said, "because every club signup sheet had either been almost completely filled up or was already filled up with signatures."

"ARRR you ready to spell your name? Life Skill Student Sergio Rodriguez, Emma Gomez, Joseph Hill, Nataly Rublaeava, Travis Young, Eric O'brien, Kelsey Cargill and Mrs. Keith form a letter R for photography students who are photographing letter photography and spelling out their names. Because the R is more challenging to capture, students used a creative solution to find their letter.

Second year Spanish students Jessica Sanchez, Alyssa Ionnone, Elias Franco, Katherine Morris, Ariana Sanchez, Adrian Flores, and Chasmine Rios show off their Spanish project. Each student presented their favorite thing project in Spanish.
“Presenting my project in Spanish was unique for me because I never spoke Spanish by myself and I felt like could actually speak it,” said Adrian Flores.

A giant mighty Duck expresses his power as he overlooks the Student Center. Three people worked on the painting which measures about 20 feet by 20 feet. The Duck is painted in the spirit of the Mighty Duck at the old High School. One of the cheerleaders thought that recapturing the Duck would bring back memories of the old high school.
"We are trying very hard to make this building look more like a high school with pride, said Nicole Pursuer, the more reminders that we are proud to be Taylor Ducks, the better!"
