Who We AreMagdalena Zavala teaches photojournalism which is a one semester course designed to teach students basic and current photography and journalistic practices.
Students will learn the art of interviewing one another using the 5W's and H of journalism. In addition to photographing fellow students we will also learn how to ask the right questions to learn specific information for our stories. Photographically, we will capture iconic commercial styled imagery using (HDR) High Dynamic Range photography. HDR photography captures both the colorful highlights and deep shadow details by photographing 5 to 8 different exposures of the same scene. The first exposure is gaged as a normal exposure. The second exposure is 1-stop less, then another is 2-stops less than the normal exposure. The fourth is 1-stop more and 2-stops more exposure then the normal exposure. Then, the 5 plus exposures are compiled together and read as one image. The results are breath-taking revealing the scene as our eyes truly see it. Students will use HDR and commercial images to capture words in actions as they photograph iconic images to capture the words found in our Taylor ISD vision statement. Vision Taylor ISD Project will become a district-wide project where students, parents, teachers, community members will be invited to share their vision of the words found in our Taylor ISD Vision Statement. |
